Mark R. Bittner

Managing Attorney, Bittner Law, LLC

Mark R. Bittner is the Managing Attorney of Bittner Law, LLC, a full-service solo law practice based in Cranford, New Jersey. With nearly a decade of experience in litigation and government service, Mark represents clients in civil litigation, employment disputes, municipal defense, and juvenile criminal matters. His practice is grounded in practical advocacy, responsiveness, and a strategic, client-first approach.

Mark began his legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Dennis V. Nieves, J.S.C. (Ret.) in Middlesex County, where he worked on a broad range of criminal cases, including the nationally followed prosecution of Michelle Lodzinski for the murder of her son, a conviction later reversed by the New Jersey Supreme Court. He went on to serve as a prosecutor in Atlantic and Essex Counties, managing heavy dockets of juvenile and adult criminal cases. In those roles, he handled matters ranging from narcotics and robbery to sexual assault and attempted murder, gaining extensive trial and courtroom experience.

After leaving government service, Mark transitioned into private civil practice. He worked at a national firm defending clients in general liability and insurance litigation and later joined a plaintiff-side employment law firm, where he represented workers in claims involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This dual perspective informs his ability to assess risk, negotiate favorable resolutions, and litigate when necessary. Mark briefly returned to government service as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he advised on procurement and contracting.

In addition to his civilian legal career, Mark serves as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He has prosecuted courts-martial, advised command teams, and provided legal support on administrative and operational matters. He also regularly assists service members and their families with estate planning, including the drafting of wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.

Mark is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law and Rutgers University. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
